Alpaca fleece half pads
Padding: Cotton Fleece
Downside: Alpaca Fleece
Padding in-between: Cotton Molleton
Alpaca wool is naturally antibacterial and does not need to be washed frequently. Depending on the intensity of use, you will notice when the wool feels clammy and is no longer fluffy. This can be once a month or once a quarter, depending on how much the horse sweats and how frequently the pad is used.
The half pad should be washed at a maximum of 20 degrees on the wool cycle. Please only use mild detergent, ideally alpaca wool detergent (available in our shop). Place the half pad in the washing machine with the fine alpaca fleece folded inwards. Turn off the spin cycle!
After the machine, the alpaca half pad will dry shortly because the structure of the fibers is fine and light. To do this, pull the pad into shape and lay it open to dry, or hang it up to dry with the spinal canal in the middle. Ideally not exposed to the blazing sun. When it is completely dry, the fleece can be fluffed up a little by hand or with a root brush.
The fine alpaca fleece underside can be brushed with a medium-strength horse brush (root brush), for example if a lot of winter fur has collected in it. However, under no circumstances should you use a comb with a hook, as this could destroy the woven structure of the fleece. Ideally, fluff or pat out the fleece a little with your fingers.
Alpaca fleece saddle pads
Padding: Cotton Fleece
Downside: Alpaca Fleece and Cotton Molleton
The alpaca saddle pads can be washed in the wool cycle at 20 degrees. Please use alpaca wool detergent (or special detergent for fine fibers - not a detergent for lambskin!). The saddle pad should be placed in the washing machine with the fine alpaca fleece on the inside of the saddle pad. Turn off the spin cycle!
If the horse has sweated a lot or is generally very dirty, it is recommended to pre-treat the cotton molton with gall soap. Cotton is very robust and can be cleaned properly with a sponge and a little gall soap before the saddle pad goes into the machine. If a lot of horse hair is caught in the alpaca fleece, brush it out with a medium-hard, clean horse brush. Be sure to avoid brushes with hooks, as these can destroy the woven structure of the alpaca fleece.
The underside with alpaca fleece is naturally antibacterial. The area made of cotton molleton can be treated with an iron after washing after the saddle pad has completely dried (without touching the alpaca wool). The steam and heat destroy possible germs that may not be killed in the wool wash cycle at 220 degrees.
Immediately after washing, pull the wet alpaca fleece saddle pad into shape with your hands and then lay it out to dry or hang it up with the spinal canal in the middle. Ideally, do not expose it to the blazing sun. The alpaca fleece will dry very quickly (unlike lambskin saddle cloths) because there is no leather skin in between. When the saddle pad is dry, the alpaca fleece can be fluffed up a little with your hands. Please do not brush through with a comb as the hooks can get caught in the woven fleece.
Cotton saddle pad
Filling: 100% cotton fleece
Bottom: 100% cotton molton
The cotton saddle pads and linen saddle pads can be washed in the washing machine at 30 degrees. Naturally the cotton will then shrink a little. If you want to avoid this for aesthetic reasons, you should only wash them at 20 degrees for the very first wash and then increase the temperature for subsequent washes.
If you have a horse with a particularly sensitive saddle position, it is recommended to iron the saddle pads, especially on the underside, after washing when they are completely dry. The undyed cotton molton on the underside can be easily ironed with steam.
Terry Blanket & Bridle Cloth
100% cotton (cotton terry)
Both products are made from pure cotton terry cloth and can therefore be washed in the washing machine at 60 degrees and can also be tumble dried.
Horse brushes
Wood: Robinia wood (dark) or beech wood (light)
Fibers: depending on the model, 100% pure goat hair, horsehair or natural fibers.
No mixtures with synthetic fibers are used!
Yes! The same principle applies as for all natural products: they are antibacterial and should only be washed when absolutely necessary. Then use a mild baby shampoo and moisten the horse or goat hair (if possible, do not put the entire brush under water). Massage in the shampoo and wash the brush completely. After a short drying time it will be like new again.
For this purpose we use dark wood for the brushes, which is more resistant to moisture than light wood.
Leather bags
Upper material: hydrophobic cowhide
Inner material: Cordura®
Fittings: metal, rustproof
The natural and particularly water-repellent robust cowhide is designed to look a little 'vintage'. A beautiful patina will automatically form after some time. Scratches on the surface can easily be polished away with a damp cotton towel. Don't worry: the area will initially appear significantly darker. But it dries within minutes and the surface looks like new.
Yes! Regardless of whether it is standing in water at the washing area in the stable or the La Baquette bag is caught in the rain - the bag dries quickly and without leaving any residue. If possible, the wet leather can be 'massaged' a little dry with a cotton cloth.
No Please not! The leather is natural and treated with a special oil which gives it the beautiful finishing. Additional oil would ruin the appearance and is not necessary for care. If a stain occurs, there is dirt on the surface or a scratch, you can carefully polish the affected area with a damp cotton cloth until it feels even and smooth again. Then simply let it dry for a few minutes and the bag will return to its original color and feel.
